Downloading open data

Public data of companies, non-profit organizations, foundations, national and municipal agencies can be downloaded in machine-readable format (JSON and XML). Additionally, for certain data sets, some data is available as a CSV file, such as general data.

Downloading open data requires acceptance of the license terms.
There are a total of eight downloadable Business Register data sets, which are updated once a day, and with open data it is important to point out that the files only contain public data of the legal entities currently in Business Register (only with statuses: entered into the register, in liquidation, in bankruptcy).

Basic data

Dataset includes the basic data of legal persons:

Registry cards

Registry card dataset returns a list of a companies registry cards.

This dataset returns a list of persons entered on the companies registry card.

Shareholders

The open data set of shareholders includes the data of persons in the register of shareholders:

  • Registry code of the company
  • Company name
  • Person ID
  • The role of the person
  • Person's name
  • Personal identification number/date of birth
  • The country of of the foreign personal identification number
  • Shareholders contribution and participation
  • Contribution type
  • Start and end date
  • Special representation rights as text

Beneficial owners

Set of data that returns list of current beneficial owners.

  • Name of the legal entity
  • Registry code
  • Person ID
  • Name of the beneficial owner;
  • Personal identification code and country of the beneficial owner;
  • Date and place of birth of the beneficial owner (in the absence of a personal identification code);
  • Country of residence of the beneficial owner;
  • The manner in which the verification of the identity of the beneficial owner is carried out.

Commercial pledge

Commercial pledge data set contains all the current commercial pledge information associated with the company.

Annual reports data

Datasets contain general statistics of the submitted annual reports for the three previous financial years and include key indicators and data. (To get whole reports, the services of e-Business Register should be used). Data is displayed for each main period of the report (data for the reference period of the reports is not included in files)

Files are initially updated once a month

The data is presented in four types CSV documents, connected to each other based on the report_id attribute, where:

1) General information describing the submission of reports, which contains a list of the submitted reports with its important information (when submitted, for which period, whether audited and if so, if known, also the type of decision and identification(s) of possible modification. NB! There is no precise content about the audit result if the report is submitted in PDF format only.

2) Distribution of non-consolidated sales revenue based on EMTAK (only for commercial entities)

3) Distribution of non-consolidated sales revenue by geographical regions (only for legal entities that have filled out the corresponding note when filling in sales revenue, there is no data for consolidated reports as non-consolidated note cannot be submitted)

4) Key indicators from the non-consolidated (even if a consolidated report is submitted) reports:
Cash and cash equivalents, Total current assets, Total non-current assets, Assets, Current liabilities, Non-current liabilities, Equity, Revenue (for companies), Total revenue (non commercial entities), Employee expense, Depreciation and impairment loss (reversal), Operating profit (loss), Annual period profit (loss), Average number of employees in full time equivalent units.

Attention

If open data contains personal data, the re-user of open data is obliged to comply with the terms and conditions of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including compliance with the principles of personal data processing and the requirements for the existence of a legal basis, in the further processing of personal data.

In certain cases, it is possible for companies and organizations to reuse public information, that is, to use it for some other commercial or non-commercial purpose than the original purpose of collecting the information. In several data sets under our responsibility, personal data is made public on the basis of the law, for example in the Land Register, Ametlikud Teadaanded (an official online publication of the Republic of Estonia), the court decisions section of the Riigi Teataja (an official online publication of the Republic of Estonia), the Business Register.

At the same time, disclosing the data does not mean that anything can be done with the data. Data, the reuse of which we have not limited (i.e. open data) and which may be used for other commercial or non-commercial purposes than the original purpose of collecting the information are published at the address https://www.rik.ee/en/open-data

Regarding other publicly accessible information and data under our responsibility, we have limited their reuse and have found that providing information and data for general use significantly damages the privacy of natural persons entered in the registers. Such data may not be reused for any commercial or non-commercial purpose.

In the event that someone (company, organization) uses (discloses, processes) your personal data from the data sets under our responsibility and the data is not part of open data, you can always contact the persons reusing personal data and exercise all rights related to your personal data, including the right to object to the processing of your personal data and to request the deletion of the personal data for which there is no legal basis according to Article 6 of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). If you find that your rights and freedoms are being violated during the processing of personal data, you have the right to appeal to the Data Protection Inspectorate or to an administrative court
